MOULE DNA PROJECT
One of my fellow researchers, Jim Moule of the USA, has managed
to set up a DNA project to try and establish which researchers are related to
each other. This is an exciting development which may help overcome some
brick walls we are encountering. It is however based on the Y-chromosome
passed from males to males, and therefore only suitable for male line Moules -
in other words the person taking the test needs to be male, and a male line
descendant of Moules - a single female in your line of descent will make this
not suitable for you. However you may have a male Moule relative
(brother, cousin, whatever) who is willing to take the test, particularly if
you stump up the readies for them. As the spelling of surnames does
not remain constant, do not be deterred if you have a slightly
different spelling of the surname.
There are no knowing what the rewards will be. It may or may not show
a link to another family, but unless you try you will never know. In my
case it provided important evidence showing my family and Jim's appear to have
a common ancestor c1700.
The test costs 149 US dollars, which currently equates to
around 90 pounds sterling. If people are deterred by the cost, it may be
possible in the future to set up a hardship fund to assist. If the test
shows you are related to another researcher, there is no knowing how much time
and effort this will save you.
All results will be compared against others from this project,
as well as those from a Mould project, which has a fair number of subscribers.
If you are interested in taking the test, please click on the link below and
select the Y-DNA37 test.
I must emphasise, however, that the person taking the test must
be MALE, and a MALE-LINE DESCENDANT OF A MOULE (OR VARIANT).
